Jeff understands that workers and labor unions built America’s middle class and that organized labor remains critical to fulfilling America’s basic bargain: If you work hard and do your part, you should be able to get ahead and stay ahead. As your Assemblyman, Jeff will stand committed to the principles of organized labor, including fair labor standards, a living wage, the right to organize and collectively bargain, and economic security for working families.
Jeff will support legislation to ensure middle class sustaining wages are paid to workers associated with state housing projects, remove prevailing wage exceptions to IDAs and LDCs, oppose attempts to bypass competitive bidding on public works projects, strengthen overtime rules, invest in apprenticeship and vocational training programs, protect workers from exploitation and the harmful negative effects of unregulated artificial intelligence, strengthen and expand the unemployment system, equalize benefits for striking workers, expand labor protections and rights to gig workers, protect and enhance access to workers compensation, raise the Temporary Disability Insurance Benefit (TDI), and increase the funding and enforcement capacity of the Department of Labor. Jeff will stand proudly with workers to stop union-busting and efforts to roll back labor protections and workers rights in New York State.
